Let Freedom Ring

  • St. Mary's Church 9 High Street Totnes, England, TQ9 5NN United Kingdom (map)

A time to gather in song, poetry, dance and prayer, to celebrate the life and gift of Martin Luther King, and the power and beauty of The Civil Rights Movement.

January the 15th is Martin Luther King's birthday and each year in North America around the date of his birth, many people gather in the name of justice and love, to honour this great soul and to keep alive the flame of his offering to the world.

This year, we in Totnes will do the same!

1.45pm We will meet in the church hall of St. Mary's church. The church hall is to the left side of the church, down a small alley between the houses ~ there is a small grey sign on the wall.

2pm Screening of the brilliant documentary 'Soundtrack to a Revolution'.

4-6pm We will dance, poet, sing and pray in the name of Faith, Courage, Love, Justice and Freedom.

You are welcome to join us for either or both the documentary screening and the song~poeting~dancing~praying part.

Your hosts will be Eliza Kenyon (of The Awakening Song) and Chris Paradox (Soul Poet).

This event is free! And.... we will be collecting donations for Bryan Stevenson's extraordinary work, 'The Equal Justice Initiative', and to cover costs.
Please either bring cash or message me for paypal/BACS details.

Young people and babes in arms (who are able to be quiet in times of contemplation and ritual) are welcome.

The documentary is a PG and is powerful, inspiring and at times very distressing. Please be in touch if you'd like to know any more to discern whether it would be a kind/useful experience for your child or not.
